Ever since FIFA announced that South Africa was to host their next world cup extravaganza, 2010 has been eagerly anticipated. For a nation that has struggled through transition and enjoyed baton changes from one group to another, the immediate future offers additional opportunities for "Nation Building" like never before. The signs are there for every shrewd entrepreneur to enjoy a brief steroid jab of economic proportions. Good for them and may it go as well as they hope. After global recession South Africa welcomes an event of such magnitude. Our trust should not be in an event though, but rather in our God. It would be unwise not to factor into our excitement the many "what if's...?" These "what if's....?" for me then become prayer projects. I am of the opinion God will heal our land when the church prays. We could be robbed of the blessing the world cup is intended to by, by selfish spirited religious aggressors. We could be short changed by those corrupt and greedy swindlers that prey on innocent tourists. What about the delinquent minded criminal plotting his advantage already. I'm of the opinion as believers we change all these potential negatives by praying. We set the atmosphere over our nation. Let's not give up what we have worked so hard on trying to set up. "A GOD LOVING NATION OF FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURS".

I join with you in a celebratory toast to a year eagerly anticipated. To a year of unprecedented opportunity and possibilities. Let's declare together....."You are awesome Oh God in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to His people....praise be to God! 2010 rightfully belongs to the church so let's celebrate what could be our finest hour.

Lots of love
